Analysis of the cosmetic and pharmaceutical market
According to experts, cosmetics sales in Russia in 2023 increased by 8.9% compared to the previous year and reached 3.85 billion units of packaging, which was the highest value in five years. During the period of economic instability, cosmetics sales continue to grow.
In 2019-2023, the share of imported cosmetics on the market was about 40%. However, the 2022 sanctions affected mainly the premium segment. And in 2023, the leaders on the Russian market were cosmetics of domestic production, as well as those from the CIS countries, in particular Belarus.
There was a risk that Russian cosmetics would also disappear from the market, since the share of imported raw materials in domestic production until 2022 was from 50% to 90%. But literally three months later, brands found alternative suppliers from Asia, India, Turkey, or began to change logistics schemes.
The volume of the commercial drug market in 2023 compared to 2022 in ruble equivalent increased by 2.6%. The total capacity amounted to 1,144.7 billion rubles. In total, the consumption of drugs through pharmacies reached 3.6 billion packages, which is 2.5% less than for the same period in 2022.
According to experts, 66.1% of drugs sold on the market were produced in Russia in physical units of measurement, but in monetary terms they occupied 47.7%. Experts predict a further increase in the role of domestic manufacturers in the domestic market.
Sanctions have forced the domestic pharmaceutical industry to more actively develop drugs that replace foreign ones on the market. In addition to the shortage of raw materials, there are difficulties with the acquisition of foreign equipment, but Russian analogues are gradually replacing imported installations.

Economic justification
A small production facility of a cosmetic brand produces 400 liters of body lotion per day. Raw materials from the supplier often come with dust particles, lint, which after the reactor in the finished product fall out into a dark sediment. The sediment can be removed by settling, but if air gets into the tank, films may form and as a result about 25% of the shift output goes to waste. The loss from the disposal of 120 liters of lotion, packaged in 250 ml bottles, at a price of 4.5 & euro; per piece will amount to 2160 & euro;.

Economic justification
The plant produces 500 kg of wound-healing balm per day. The product contains about 20 ingredients, including dry, liquid and viscous components.
