Analysis of the paint and varnish market
The paint and varnish industry in Russia has recently become one of the most promising and growing areas of industrial activity. Russia is currently beginning to strengthen its position in the global decorative and industrial paint and varnish market.
From 2019 to 2023, paint and varnish production in Russia increased by more than 40%: from 1.53 to 2.19 million tons. The largest increase occurred in 2020 and 2023 and was due to increased demand for paint and varnish products. In addition, new production facilities have opened in the country.
This growth dynamic is due to the departure of many foreign paint and varnish giants from the country. Domestic producers divided up the vacated market share. New, unique formulas for paints and special coatings have also emerged, which have no analogues.
Difficulties with purchasing chemical components had a more significant impact on the industry. Sanctions disrupted raw material supplies. Manufacturers addressed the raw material shortage by redirecting imports to Asia and switching to domestic components.
Thanks to government support, domestic paint and varnish manufacturers are now able to develop their industry and market even in the face of sanctions from other countries. Plans for the near future include achieving full self-sufficiency.
UVMILK has developed effective solutions for paint and varnish manufacturers based on their production process and output volume. Proper selection of filters allows us to obtain high-quality and stable materials for sale on the domestic and foreign markets.

Economic justification
A paint and varnish plant produces 10 tons of paint per week and has the capacity to increase output. However, large particles of pigment agglomerates, dried polymers, and beads are found in the finished paints and varnishes. Foreign inclusions in cans of interior paint negatively affect the product’s properties, including adhesion and uniform application. A recall of a 6.5-ton batch resulted in losses of 6,500 kg x 1.2 € = 7,800 €.
By installing a UVCHEMICAL basket filter, you can remove large mechanical impurities after the reactor, temporary storage tank, or directly during container capping. The plant not only ensured paint homogeneity but also increased paint and varnish production by 4 tons per week. By investing 1,700 € in filtration, the plant received additional revenue of 4,000 kg x 1.2 € = 4800 euros per week. Payback period for filters: less than a week.
Feedback of UVCHEMICAL basket filters
We produce paints and varnishes containing synthetic resins. Paint coatings based on synthetic varnish resins are durable and inexpensive. We needed to clean resin with a dynamic viscosity of 500 cP from gel lumps and mechanical impurities at a temperature of 22°C. We know from experience that not every filter can handle this task.
A manager at UVMILK recommended installing a UVCHEMICAL basket filter on the production line. The cleaning was effective; solids remained on the surface of the filter element during the filtration process. We thank the competent staff at UVMILK for the well-chosen filtration equipment that helped us solve our problem."

Economic justification
A finishing materials plant produces 10 tons of putty per day. The raw materials used in production contain fragments of undissolved lumps, as well as small amounts of foreign particles. As a result, the finished product contained impurities and debris. This putty did not provide a high-quality, even coating, but was applied in an uneven layer with noticeable roughness. Because of this, up to 20% of the shift output was wasted, or 2 tons of finished product.
After consulting with a UVMILK employee, the decision was made to install a UVCHEMICAL filtration system for final product cleaning. This resulted in a consistent, homogeneous texture and, consequently, a uniform coating. Thanks to the filtration, the number of defective products was reduced to a minimum. Previously, with the putty price at 2 euros per kg, the loss from 2 tons of defective products per day amounted to 4,000 euros. The cost of the filter system is 2150 euros. The payback period for the filter is 1 day.
Feedback on using the filter
Our factory produces finishing materials. During putty production, polymerization occurred upon exposure to air, which is difficult to see with the naked eye. Stirrers broke this film into small inclusions. These lumps and tiny dots were revealed during putty application. We searched for a long time for a filter that would withstand the pressure of the highly viscous mixture.
The UVMilk manager suggested a slotted filter with a thick wall and sparse slots. We also received detailed instructions on filter installation. The very first test run revealed significantly more inclusions than we initially expected. To speed up filtration, we subsequently ordered an additional filter element with the same filtration rating.

Economic justification
The production site produces 10 tons of PVA glue per day. During the production of polyvinyl acetate, mechanical inclusions become embedded, forming a polymer film on the surface. Fine particles (1 to 50 microns) in the adhesive layer negatively impact product quality. A sediment remains at the bottom of the polyvinyl acetate storage tank and must be drained. If 20% of daily output is disposed of, the loss would be 2,000 kg x 1 euro = 2,000 euro per shift.
To remove the polymer film and foreign inclusions from the polyvinyl acetate emulsion that enter the container during pumping or pumping, a UVCHEMICAL basket filter was installed. This filter ensures a homogeneous adhesive mass, free of foreign inclusions and undissolved particles. At a one-time cost of approximately 1,300 euros, By adding a filter, you can remove foreign particles from the product, reducing the defect rate and associated financial losses. The payback period for filters is 1 day.
Feedback on the use of UVCHEMICAL filters
We would like to express our gratitude to UVMILK for the high-quality UVCHEMICAL filtration system we recently purchased. We produce PVA glue. With the departure of foreign suppliers from the Russian market, we were forced to seek domestically produced raw materials. However, with the use of alternative raw materials, our glue began to acquire a gray tint and an unstable consistency.
During an inspection at the production facility, foreign impurities were found in the raw materials. The supplier is unable to change the quality of the raw materials, so we had to find a solution in-house. After exploring various options, we settled on filtering the raw materials in-house. We ordered a UVCHEMICAL filter from UVMILK, installed it on the line, and received white, uniform, and stable PVA glue.

Economic justification
A chemical plant produces 2 tons of wood fire retardant per week according to its production plan. The composition often contains debris and dust from the original raw materials, as well as rust and dust particles generated during the production process. Large retailers may reject a product of this quality and return the batch to the manufacturer. Lost profit, with the wholesale price of 1 € per liter, amounts to: 2,000 liters x 1 € = 2,000 € per week.
Installing a UVCHEMICAL mesh filter with a 50-micron fineness at the bottling plant allows for the effective removal of foreign matter from the fire retardant. After filtration, the appearance of the product, packaged in translucent plastic canisters, is significantly improved. The company benefits from consistently high product quality and increased customer loyalty. The one-time cost of 600 € for the filter will pay for itself within a week of operation. The installed filter can also be used to filter other manufactured compounds.
Feedback on the use of UVCHEMICAL mesh filters
We contacted UVMILK with a problem involving foreign particles from the raw materials getting into the fire-retardant wood impregnation we produce. This didn’t affect the properties of the finished product, but the liquid’s appearance was unpresentable. Because of this, many customers filed complaints and expressed concerns that the sediment was due to the product’s expiration date.
A UVMILK manager advised us to try a UVCHEMICAL 50-micron mesh filter. The purification was effective. We detected numerous impurities in the filter element, but the resulting solution was clear and clean. We thank the staff at UVMILK for their consultation and assistance in filter selection.
