Beekeeping Market Analysis

Beekeeping is one of the oldest and most important branches of agriculture, producing honey, wax, propolis and other bee products. In recent years, Russian beekeeping has demonstrated significant success.
Bees are key pollinators of agricultural crops, which helps to increase crop yields and improve the quality of fruits. The preservation and development of beekeeping directly affects the biological diversity and stability of ecosystems.
Russian beekeeping demonstrates positive trends and significant potential for further growth. Government support, innovative technologies and high domestic demand for honey are the main elements of the industry’s development.
With a significant shortage of technology, equipment and labor, the issue of honey filtration is of particular importance. Modern filtration methods allow preserving the natural properties of the product and ensuring its safety.
In 2024, the cost of honey in Russia showed moderate growth, which is due to several key factors. Increased demand for natural and organic products continues to stimulate the market, ensuring stable demand for honey.
The average price per kilogram of honey on the domestic market in 2024 is about 600 rubles, which is 10% higher than the previous year. However, despite the rise in prices, consumers remain loyal to domestic honey, appreciating its quality and naturalness.

Using UVMILK filters for beekeeping

Apiaries
-
honey
-
royal jelly
-
propolis
Problems in honey production
- Reduction in the volume of honey, wax, bee bread, royal jelly production due to high incidence of bee diseases
- Loss of flowering of honey plants due to breakdown of transport for delivery of bee colonies in nomadic beekeeping
- High labor costs for the process of honey pumping itself due to the lack of stationary and mobile honey pumping points
- Heterogeneity of wax due to the presence of cappings, wax, bee bread, propolis, bee fragments, shavings and mechanical waste
- Large volume of manual labor on beekeeping farms, low level of automation of the work process
- A large share of counterfeit products reduces consumer confidence in natural products
Advantages of using filters in apiaries
- A wide range of filters by resource and micronity, allowing you to choose a solution for cleaning honey, wax, water, air
- Robust design of steel filter elements for removing mechanical and organic contaminants
- Compact dimensions and mobility of equipment, allowing for filtration in the field when pumping honey
- Durability of filters, the ability to independently service and wash the equipment on site
- Possibility of additionally equipping the housings with a heating jacket to maintain the density of honey during pumping
- Complex supply due to our own production of food, air and technical filters
Benefits of using filters in apiaries
- Safe water for drinking and preparing supplementary feeding thanks to filters that reduce the concentration of agrochemicals coming from the fields
- Efficient purification of honey, propolis and royal jelly thanks to the special architecture of the filter holes that retain wax fragments and bees
- Homogeneous smooth wax without foreign inclusions thanks to the UVMILK steel filter with a micron rating of 100 μm
- Mobile pumping and cleaning of honey in any place thanks to the compact size and convenient clamp fastening of UVMILK filters
- Environmental safety of apiaries thanks to the sorption of oil products in wells and open water bodies
- Careful transportation of apiaries to honey collection sites thanks to the smooth operation of agricultural machinery on fuel purified by filters
Economic justification
The apiaries collect about 6,000 kg of honey per season. The honey is purified through a traditional beekeeping sieve with a cell size of 2,000 microns. Small particles of wax and wings get into the honey. After pumping, it is settled and poured into containers for retail sale. The sale of non-marketable honey in wholesale lots is priced at 0.8 € per kilogram. Income from the sale of non-marketable honey for the season is 6,000 kg X 0.8 € = 4,800 €.
Using the UVMILK mesh filter for honey purification allows you to remove all unwanted inclusions of 100 microns in size without settling, thereby ensuring the homogeneity and attractive marketable appearance of honey. By investing about 900 € at a time on a filter, you can clean honey directly from a honey pump or cube from foreign inclusions. Revenue from sales of 6,000 kg X €3.5 = €21,000. Payback period for filters: less than a season.

Feedback on the use of UVMILK filters
«I have been interested in beekeeping since childhood, now I have both nomadic and stationary apiaries. Our main income, of course, comes from selling honey. Previously, honey was left to settle after pumping, but it cools down and is then difficult to pour into containers. We give broken and cut wax, wax foundation trimmings to the wax factory for processing in exchange for money or for wax foundation. But if the wax is very dirty, the color of the ingot is gray, then they accept it for a symbolic price. Some wax is not taken at all.
Specialists from the UVMILK company offered us filters for cleaning honey and wax. We took a case with a pair of steel cylinders for cleaning from various impurities. We pump honey through it more often, and wax when remelting once a season. It should be noted that the filter has a heating jacket that is filled with hot water. When pumping, neither honey nor wax cools down. This is convenient. Honey no longer needs to settle. There are no problems with washing the housing either. We are happy with the result.»
